The compass needle doesn’t move.

The needle uses your phone’s compass. Hold it as level as possible and away from magnets, speakers or metal. If iOS asks you to calibrate the compass, move your iPhone in a figure eight a few times. On Android, the same movement helps if the needle is inaccurate.

Where is my data stored?

Only on your iPhone or Android phone. The app has no account and sends nothing to us or anyone else. See the privacy policy for details.

How do I move my data to a new phone?

iPhone: your data is part of your iPhone backup. If you set up your new iPhone from an iCloud backup or a backup on your computer, it will be there again.

Android: when setting up your new phone, transfer your data directly from your old phone (by cable or Wi-Fi, Android 12 and later). Inwardly’s data comes along. It is deliberately not included in Google’s cloud backup.

Data cannot be moved between iPhone and Android.

I paused “Find Your Values”. Is my progress lost?

No. It’s saved after every step. On the start screen, or under the sliders icon at the top right, tap “Continue Finding Your Values”.

Which languages does the app support?

English and German. The app follows your phone’s language setting.

Is the app a substitute for therapy?

No. Inwardly is a tool for self-reflection. If you’re struggling, please reach out to a doctor or a local crisis line.
